Thank you for your enquiry to become an Approved Driving Instructor with INSTRUCTORTRAIN ten day driving instructor training.

To begin the process of enrolment please fill in the enclosed application form and return it with a current CV and any additional information relating to your employment history.

Once the information has been received and processed we will contact you.

As part of the qualifying process you will be required to undergo a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check. Please refer to the DVSA guidelines to ensure that you qualify as a suitable candidate to join the Approved Driving Instructor register. When you are successful with your application and you have been issued a PDI number we will arrange your enrolment on the InstructorTrain course. We will need to see your DBS certificate, PDI number and your driving licence before you attend the course.

Your qualification as an ADI is dependent on you passing three DVSA tests. The InstructorTrain course is split over two five day weeks (Monday to Friday). During week 1 you will have 15 hours of Part 1 training, 8 hours of Part 2 training and 10 hours of Part 3 training. You will also receive study material deemed appropriate by us. You must pass the Part 1 theory and hazard perception test before you sit the Part 2 test of your driving ability. Once you have passed the Part 2 test you can book week two of your training.

During week two you will have an additional 30 hours of Part 3 training. On successful completion of week two you can book your part 3 test of instructional ability or apply for a trainee PDI licence which entitles you to teach learner drivers for reward.

If you decide to apply for a PDI license you will have to have either 20 hours of additional PDI training, or 20% of your lessons supervised in order to ensure you are fully prepared for Part III. You will need to be sponsored by a suitable driving school in order to teach on a PDI licence.

When you are successful with Part 3 we guarantee you a position with a local/national driving school or we can help you set up on your own.

On behalf of all at InstructorTrain I would like to wish you every success with your application and look forward to hearing from you.

Yours Sincerely,

P. Cain

WHY BECOME A DRIVING INSTRUCTOR?

Be your own boss.

As a ‘Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) Approved Driving Instructor’ (ADI), you will be in full control of your business and working environment. Whether you choose to be a franchisee with a driving School or work freelance you decide what time you start, how long you work and what time off you have etc.

You will have the potential earnings of £35,000 + (depending on your hourly rate and the hours you work).

Work flexible hours.

The hours you work are completely up to you! You might want to work part time to fit in with school runs, be semi-retired or work full time hours. You are in complete control of your hours with no one to answer to!  Shop around when choosing a driving school franchise because terms and conditions do vary. Some intensive learner driver course providers offer no franchise payments and short term contracts. You might also be able to get reduced franchise payments for part time hours.

Please remember that you are responsible for your annual income tax returns!

Achieve real job satisfaction.

As an ADI you will have a professional career with the responsibility of teaching safe driving techniques to a new generation of road users. You will take immense pride from training a new driver from their first time sitting in the drivers’ seat to being at a standard to sit and pass their driving test and become a safe and confident driver. When they have passed you can improve their driving skills by taking them on the pass plus course where you will teach them safe driving techniques for driving in town, on rural roads, in all weathers, in the dark, on dual carriageways and on motorways! When they complete the course the DVSA will send them a certificate which will entitle them to an insurance discount with some insurance companies.

You might also want to further your career by going into fleet training, off road training or driving instructor training. Or you can stay as an Approved Driving Instructor.

‘Make a break from your normal 9 to 5. Become a Driving Instructor quickly with InstructorTrain ten day driving instructor training!’

WHAT DOES INSTRUCTORTRAIN OFFER ME?

INSTRUCTORTRAIN will give you professional training by fully qualified driving instructors who meet our very high standards of tuition. We will train you to become a driving instructor whom we would like to represent us. All training you receive will be of the highest quality throughout the course! We will also help you with any enquiries you have regarding all aspects of your new career. When you qualify we will be able to offer you a guaranteed position at a local/national School or give you advice on how to start your own School if you prefer.

With us you are never alone. Each trainee driving instructor is treated as an individual and you will be allocated your own personal trainer who will be with you throughout the qualifying period. If you have any questions at any time during your training we encourage you to discuss it with us! However trivial you think the question is we will be pleased to answer it.

To qualify as a driving instructor you need to have held a full UK driving licence for at least four years, by over 21 years of age, meet some necessary legal requirements and pass a DBS check. You are also required to pass three tests with the DVSA. It is acceptable for you to have some penalty points on your licence but you should find out if the points you have will affect your application before you apply.

The course will take place over two 5 day weeks between Monday and Friday. You must pass each DVSA test in order. You can only book the second week’s course on completion of Part 2. The actual time taken to complete the training depends on the availability of tests with the DVSA and on you passing each test.
